The Belarusian House in Ukraine has reported on the release of Belarusians, who were detained by the Ukrainian security services on September 16 and underlines that they are all well.

Belarusian House invites everyone to come to Maidan Nezalezhnosti on Sunday September 19 at 2:00 pm to discuss this case and other similar situations and understand how to “protect yourself from the danger of being detained because you are Belarusian”.

On September 16, Ukrainian security services visited the house rented by Belarusian refugees and arrested four people. Then the House of Belarusians in Ukraine reported that 12 Belarusians had been detained.

Among the detainees was a volunteer Alena Zharkevich, which helps people to relocate from Belarus. She came to Ukraine this year with her son and helped hundreds of Belarusians who found themselves in the country without housing or papers. A few days ago, she took care of the legalization of one of the refugees, who also left Belarus. Along with Alena, three other people were arrested. One of them was a former policeman Yahor Yemelyanau, who left the Home Office on August 11, 2020.

Ukrainian security service spokesman Artiom Dekhterenko later said Belarusians were being held in Operation Migrant.
