Sullivan discusses support for Kyiv with Ukrainian presidential office chief

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News/Sputnik – October 03, 2022) US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke with Ukrainian Presidential Office Chief Andriy Yermak to discuss the latest developments in Ukraine and the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant ( ZNPP), the White House said.

“National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met today in Istanbul with the Chief of Staff to the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak. Mr. Sullivan underscored the United States’ unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Ukraine,” said National Security Council (NSC) spokeswoman Adrienne Watson. said Sunday in a statement.

Sullivan reiterated Washington’s commitment to help Kyiv, including through the recently announced $12 billion in additional aid.

“The two men discussed the situation at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and Ukraine’s continued work with the United Nations to export food around the world,” Watson said.

Earlier on Sunday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, to discuss the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and offer the assistance from Kyiv to facilitate the rotation of experts for the IAEA mission.

On Saturday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed the situation in Ukraine, including the security of Ukrainian nuclear facilities, in a phone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
