LUHANSK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – June 13, 2021) Ukrainian armed forces are waging electronic warfare aimed at hampering the work of OSCE surveillance drones on the contact line in Donbass, a spokesman for the People’s Militia of the Self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) said Sunday.

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) told Sputnik in April that one of its surveillance drones was lost in eastern Ukraine in an area not controlled by the government as a result targeted attack. LPR chief Leonid Pasechnik told Sputnik that Luhansk’s forces never targeted SMM drones.

“Ukrainian activists continue to hamper the work of OSCE observers,” the LPR official told reporters, adding that the republic’s intelligence services found Ukrainian security forces’ weapons and equipment in residential areas of 11 settlements of the Kiev-controlled contact line.

According to the spokesperson, the Bukovel-AD electronic warfare system belonging to the Ukrainian security forces was discovered in the settlement of Novoaleksandrovka, controlled by Kiev. It was used for signal interference from OSCE SMM drones.

The Ukrainian armed forces are also reportedly deploying armored vehicles and anti-aircraft weapons near the line of contact.

“Despite the absence of provocative fire, the enemy continues to violate their obligations,” the official said.

Kiev launched a military operation against Lugansk and Donetsk in 2014. There have been numerous attempts to resolve the conflict or, at the very least, end hostilities. Prospects for peace have been discussed on various platforms, including the Trilateral Contact Group which, since September 2014, has already adopted three documents containing measures to defuse the conflict.
