“From Kyiv to Kidderminster? Twitter reacts to Liz Truss speech
TWITTER users reacted to Liz Truss’ acceptance speech, with some saying she missed an opportunity to reference Kidderminster.
During her speech after being named the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Liz Truss paid tribute to her predecessor Boris Johnson, saying she was “admired from kyiv to Carlisle”.
Asking the line, broadcaster James O’Brien said on his LCB radio show: “Why didn’t she say Kidderminster?”
He added: ‘It doesn’t even start with K – Carlisle’.
Mr O’Brien, who grew up in Kidderminster, also pointed out that the new prime minister had “mispronounced” Kyiv.

On Twitter, Mr O’Brien posted: ‘Can’t believe she didn’t go with’ Kyiv to Kidderminster? ”
Others on the social media platform shared the same view.
One posted: “Surely this should have been another kicking K like Kidderminster?”
Another Twitter user said: “Could have ended up like Kidderminster. Or Kettering. Or even Kilmarnock”.
Another said: ‘Surely Kyiv in Kettering or Kidderminster would have been better’.
Another said: “kyiv to Carlisle? kyiv to Kidderminster surely.”
